Shapes

SHAPES

This weeks Lucky 7 challenge was to find shapes.
RECTANGLE
This was the tasty chicken tikka pasty that I had for lunch on Monday. I would definately have another one!

Square
This is a lovely box I received one Christmas that opens to reveal a tiny hand made teddy. It's so cute.

More rectangles- a new tester box full of spices and herbs to make 4 different dinners.

                                                               Circle
The top of my favourite toiletries- Soap and Glory Body butter. It smells lovely and I like the feel of it. Some body lotions really make my skin crawl (have sensitive skin)- but this one feels lovely.

Some of the 'fossil' beads on my new bracelet. Circular!

Triangles
This is sort of a cheat- before I found another triangle. I thought the leaf clasp on this necklace was a triangular shape.

Holly's witches hat is triangular and surfaced this week during another mass clear out! She won't be sorry to see it go!

Sphere- the lovely little baubles that made part of my calendar this year.
Heart- with Valentines being on Friday this one was a little easier to find! This one is a new frame that is just waiting for a photograph.

The cupcakes that Emma brought home from college- red velvet cake

The dessert from the Marks and Spencer Meal Deal that we had on Valentines Night
                                                  Chocolates from the same deal!
one of the old woodwork projects that Emma made at school!
Rather than Diamond I'm going with the hexagonal/octagaonal? pulpit from some photos I have just found of Amy's trip to Italy about 6 years ago. I have never seen them before so it was a wonderful find this morning. They were on a disc that somehow found it's way into my laptop. very strange. They are Guy's dad's photos of the trip that Amy and her cousin took to join them on their holiday.

Arches, triangles and lots of beautiful curves. It makes me want to go and visit.

Fluid shapes- I wasn't really sure how to interpret this one- but thought these shapes on the kindle screensaver were very timely. So I have chosen to use these!

Media

FAVOURITE PICTURE- I've used this one before, but it really does make me smile every time I look at it. I do have a couple of paintings around the house that feature the sea.
This is our latest painting with the 'artist'. We had a lovely weekend in Chesterfield for our anniversary last October and had been given some money to spend. By chance we came across a craft fair- and more unusually Guy was amenable to going in! We both stopped and chatted to the artist and picked out our favourites. We were going to buy one of the smaller prints and then decided to treat ourselves for our anniversary. The artist signed the back for us with the date.

My craft Haven- I don't actually have anywhere special for my scrapbooking at the moment. The dining room table is currently a computer workshop!!!!!! But this is the Project Life album that I've started this year and hope to keep up this year. I got to week 19 last year!

Tv favourites- this time of year I love to watch Dancing on Ice. I can't believe that Torville and Dean skated the Bolero 30 years ago this month! I remember staying up to watch them skate.

The Power of advertising- I saw the advert for the first box of goodies on facebook- and I think it was £5. It had 17 items in it and was quite a nice collection of things! I was tempted to order one. It's supposed to be a monthly box of surprise goodies. This months box had a lot less items in- and I'm not sure whether it was value for money or not- BUT we will use everything in it apart from the 2 drinnks- one is chocolate coconut water and the other fermented tea. But I get tempted by a bargain- so I am an advertisers dream. We may give this go for another couple of months and see whether we think it's worth carrying on with it.

Digital or Print. I have always been a huge reader- I never thought I would embrace the kindle and resisted buying one for over a year. Once I had mine- I was an instant convert. This week I had a total disaster- and think someone trod on my kindle and it's broken. I was distraught until I forced myself to admit it was only books!!!!!!! Calibre stores a lot of the books that were on my kindle and the Amazon cloud stores everything I bought there. A friend helped me get a lot of this sorted!

But- although I don't really buy 'many' any more- I still don't think you can beat the smell of a new book. I won some books - and was able to pick some from a publishers site and they arrived this week. It was still the same feeling when they arrived- New BOOKS!!!!!!!!

We're still doing well with our new recipe collection. Guy is more on board with it than I am! He bought himself a cheap food processor at the weekend and cooked Apricot and Amaretto shortbread which were delicious.

A friend posted a recipe for cheesy quinoa bites- and by coincidence Quinoa was one of the items to try in the box full of goodies. So they were quite tasty aswell.

Winter Views

Garden View
I was expecting to have a pretty snowy scene and delayed taking my photos! I did get 10 mins of very heavy snow and managed to catch that for this scene.
This seasons favourite meal- this is a cheat really as I love things like stew and cottage pie. But we also love a lazy night dinner often on a Tuesday. It used to be my library night- and we'd pop to Costco on the way back. But the library is shut on Tuesday evenings now.

The other favourite for Emma is a 'choosing tea' otherwise known as a buffet. My mum always does a buffet or restaurant meal to celebrate birthdays and this was the one for the girls birthday at the weekend. I forgot to take a photo until the locusts had already cleared a large portion!

Sky view- evening sky which looks a bit wintery!

Favourite place to visit- my parents house for the birthday tea. I still call this home! It's where I was born and still feels like going home to me!
My friend bought the girls an amazing candle  which flared and then opened up into a flower whilst playing Happy Birthday.
The present view of their house. They were having the brickwork repointed and the builder said that the front actually had structural damage. They had to have a report done by the insurance company who said it WASN'T subsidence- which would have been covered and therefore paid for. It was caused by the builder- who owned a house at the top of this lane using substandard building material- and my parents house is at the bottom of the lane and therefore had the dregs of the building materials! They also used less cement than required- which has eroded over the years- and has lime in which the birds like to peck which also adds to the damage. My dad WAS a builder- and probably should have had this looked at years ago- but it's been getting worse. Anyway- the work has commenced- and the inspector came round (his initial report cost another £500) and on this visit he said that the chimney was also precarious and that has had to come down aswell. It is a total nightmare- but hopefully if the weather calms down a bit- this will be completed in a couple of weeks.

This is a familiar view at my mum's after Christmas- she always has an Amarylis- I remember the very first one which seemed to just be a stalk and some leaves for such a long time. They always make me think of my mum- and her summer speciality is an Agapanthus which she first spotted in Cornwall. The first one she ever had - flowered whilst we were in Cornwall on holiday and her best friend had to take a photo of it- so she didn't miss the display!

Daily Snappers- Square.
Emma declared this the best card ever- her favourite Laurel and Hardy!

Favourite outfit- Holly's New Year Deely Boppers!
